Charlie's story - classic migraine with aura

I am a 46 year old male that suffers from Migraine headaches. The first one I was treated for by a doctor was 18 years ago.

I was doing a wedding cake and the headache just kept getting worse and I almost threw up on the cake. They take me to the doctor, who gives me demerol and phenegren shot - out for 8 hours.

Did not know what was going on starting asking questions. I found out that MSG is one of my biggest triggers. Nutra-sweet, raw onions, and nitrates as in bacon, hotdogs, and ham are also triggers at times, so are smells.

The other Sunday night we stopped at a store between home and church ,I had full blown headache in 15 min, just from a smell.

I have the aura or halo's around the lights most of the time ,sometimes I just cannot see, blurry vision or tunnel vision. I call it "looking through 2 paper towel spools", I also have nausea, vomiting, with extreme pain on one side of my head, usually on the right side. I take start out with 2 Tylenol If that does not work then 2 Execreden Migraine after 30-45 min if that does not work, I take Axert then. Sometimes, if nothing so far has helped, I have used a very limited amount of a drug called Mepergan, only as last resort. If that does not work it is time to find a doctor, must have shot.

I don't have the sensitivity to sound as much as i do to light.

I also suffer from Meniere's Disease in my right ear which my ear specialist says it can be related.

I have one question that I have never found a doctor that could answer. We have a lot of stormy weather, and tornadoes and severe thunder storms can trigger one. They laugh at me at work because I tell them when to watch the weather.
