Susan's Migraine StoryMy name is Susan and I am a 50 year old female. I remember my first migraine happened during my 8th grade science class. I was looking at the teacher and it was like looking through a picket fence. I didn't know what was happening so I asked to be dismissed. The first thing that the school nurse asked me is if I had taken any drugs. I couldn't believe it. Since then, I have suffered with several different kinds of migraines. The worst ones for me is the one that wakes me from a deep sleep in the early hours of the morning. I wake up with a pounding pain on the top of my head, nausia and diarrhea. My doctor has had me try Axert. This medication does help, however it knocks me out for hours. For about 2 days I have a feeling of being hungover. I guess the most frustrating part of having migraines is people that do not suffer from them can not imagine that a "headache" could debilate a person to such an extent. I am so glad that I found this website that I can relate to. |
